This website is designed and maintained by Peter Harvey. It might interest visitors to know that the frieze on the right-hand side of each page is derived from a photograph of plasterwork in Boston's 18th Century Faneuil Hall - sometimes referred to as 'the cradle of liberty' - which played a significant role during the revolutionary period. The 'egg and dart' top frieze is similarly derived from a moulding of the period, and the colour palette is of course, Wedgewood. To complete the iconography of the period, the balustrade which serves as a footnote to each page is in Oxford's Holywell Music Room, said to be Europe's first purpose-built concert hall.
